Biographical Note
The firm, originally founded by Wolf Netter (1783-1859) in 1833 in Buehl in Baden, was one of the leading producers of iron and steel industrial products. In the course of the next hundred years, plants were built in Aldershof-Berlin, Finnentrop in Westfalen.
The Jacobis tied their fortunes to the Netters in 1873 following the Peace of Frankfurt when Elsass-Lothringen was ceded to the newly created German Reich and Salomon Jacobi established an affiliate company in Strassburg.
