Salomon Auerhaim papers
Scope and Content Note
The collection contains correspondence and other personal documents (1854-1861) from Germany (including 2 letters in Yiddish, and one in German) to Auerhaim and a letter written by Auerhaim while visiting Saugerties, New York in 1854.
Of particular interest are: five receipts for merchandise purchased in New York (1856-60); a draft for shipment of goods to Kozmin, Prussia (1869); six colorful souvenir/post cards; and an illustrated book of poetry, sponsored by Auerhaim's dry goods store in Bradford, Pennsylvania.
The collection also contains: a German passport (1856), American citizenship papers (1868), original charcoal drawings of Auerhaim and his wife (1888) [as of November 2018, these drawings could not be located].

The collection was donated by Philip Neufeld in 1976.

Box CB Folder 1 has been digitized as part of an ongoing digitization-on-demand program at the Center for Jewish History.
Separated Material
Two charcoal or pastel drawings of Mr. Solomon and Mrs. Fannie Auerhaim were also donated to the collection. In November 2018 these items were not located.
