Scope and Content Note

The majority of the collection consists of Jonas' will and the papers related to settlement of his estate. Of interest in these papers is his exhortation to his children not to dispute his leaving the entire estate to his wife. A witness to his will was Simeon P. Cohen.

Also included are two legal items prepared by Jonas during his law practice, one of which is a petition of Mary Ann Myers Cowall for a divorce on the grounds of cruel and abusive treatment (1848).
