Leon Agriss papers
Scope and Content Note
This collection consists of correspondence, newsletters, and meeting minutes of various Zionist groups in which Agriss was active. The correspondence deals with the Jewish National Fund in Harrisburg, PA; relations between Masada, Avukah, and Hashomer Hatzair; as well as Agriss' involvement with Kibbutz Aliyah and Plugat Aliyah, a group dedicated to settlement in Palestine.
Also included is Agriss' correspondence from Palestine/Israel regarding conditions immediately preceeding and following independence in 1948, instructions for future immigrants, and attempts to form a chapter of the American Veterans Committee. A photocopy of a diary relating the experiences of Agriss and his wife during the Siege of Jerusalem is included.
Also contained in the collection is correspondence dating from Agriss' return to the United States in 1950, and dealing with Materials for Israel, Inc., American Veterans of Israel, and Kibbutz HaSolelim.
