Christopher Jeffrey Collection
Correspondence (originals and transcriptions) of Edgar Jaffe and Else von Richthofen Jaffe, accompanied by an inventory of letters with annotations and comments by Guenther Roth. Also included are photocopies from the diary of the sociologist Hans von Eckardt.
Else Richthofen-Jaffé Letters
The Else Richthofen-Jaffé Correspondence primarily consists of the family correspondence of this social scientist. Much of the collection consists of Else Richthofen-Jaffé's correspondence with her adult children and their families, although some correspondence with other family members or other close individuals is also present. In addition the collection contains parts of an unpublished work on the family and some genealogical notes.
Frieda Lawrence Letters
The Frieda Lawrence Letters hold some letters of Frieda Lawrence primarily sent to her sister Else Richthofen-Jaffé and Else's son Friedel Jaffé. Included in the first folder of the collection is a summary of the letters by Guenther Roth, which also provides context for them and biographical details on Frieda Lawrence.
Kurt Riezler Letters
The Kurt Riezler Letters hold the correspondence of the diplomat Kurt Riezler with his fiancée Kaethe Liebermann as well as a few letters with other individuals, most notably her father, the painter Max Liebermann. Prominent in the correspondence is the discussion of the first months of World War I and the conditions in Moscow in 1918. Later letters consist of conversations with other family members.
