Friedmann family

Family documents, genealogical tables, wedding announcements and wedding journal, map of Westprussia

Documents and correspondence related to the Friedmanns' emigration from Germany and Cuba via the famous S. S. St. Louis (they were the only family who disembarked in Cuba), as well as documents related to the freezing of their assets and Jewish forced contributions in Germany in 1939.

This collection documents the parental families of Peter Gomori – primarily pertaining to his mother, Charlotte née Nadas Gomori – and of Jannette Katz- Gomori – pertaining to her parents, Anne née Wolff Katz and Rudolf Katz; documents are from before, during, and after World War II and the Holocaust. The collection consists mostly of family photographs and includes one family album; two death certificates; travel documents; handwritten and typewritten correspondences; a handwritten will; inventories of wedding presents and furniture purchases; and a prayer book.

The Gustav Beck Collection includes materials documenting Gustav Beck's genealogical efforts, personal correspondence, documents, memoirs, and a large amount of photo albums.

This collection mostly contains Friedmann family correspondence, collected by Herbert Freeman (1925-). The letters cover the period 1904-1951, written by Jews from Germany either in Germany or after their emigration to either Palestine/Israel or to the United States. It also contains photocopies from the National Archives related to Herbert and Henry Friedman's migration to the United States and family trees of the Friedmann family.

The Rudolph E. Friedman Collection contains the papers and extensive correspondence of this businessman. The collection centers on his early life in Germany, emigration and early years in the United States, and his military service during World War II. Some information on his family is also available. The collection consists largely of correspondence and documentation of his military service, but also includes a small amount of official documents and personal papers.

The collection contains genealogical research materials compiled by Senta K. Simon on the Bachmann, Beihoff, Ettisch, Fechheimer, Fleischmann, Freudenthal, Friedeberg, Friedmann, Kahn, Katz, Pretzfelder, Reichmannsdörfer, Rosenbaum, Rosenthal, Schloss, and Simon families, as well as locations with which they were associated, primarily in Franconia and Thuringia. Materials include correspondence, research files, work sheets and lists, and a small quantity of primary sources.

This collection contains the papers of Susanne (Susi) Friedmann-Kirsch (1926-), documenting her family’s history in Austria, Eastern Europe, and Israel, from the mid 1800s to the 2000s. The collection mostly holds vital documents and genealogical materials, including family trees, photographs, correspondence, family narratives, diaries, and other writings.
