Robert Lowy Family Collection
The Robert Lowy Family Collection details the immigration of the Lowy family to the United States via Belgium. It also features the restitution of the family for its losses and the education of Robert (Ralph) Lowy. Many family members are remembered through the collection's numerous photographs. Aside from photographs and photo albums, the collection includes much correspondence, official documentation, notes and notebooks and some educational certificates of Robert Lowy.
Samson Raphael Hirsch Family Collection
Contains three signed letters from Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch and an unsigned and undated nine page letter/report. The latter report and a letter of August 20, 1860 were discussed in a 1940 article on Rabbi Hirsch in the Dutch newspaper Nieuw Israelitisch Weekblad, a copy of which along with partial English translation is in this collection. There are also eight lengthy letters from leaders of the Amsterdam Jewish community sent to Rabbi Hirsch. Other documents in this collection include bank checks, photocopies of Hirsch letters circa 1834-1835, photocopy of Hamburg citizen oath (1851), and a Raphael Hirsch family tree tracing lineage to 17th century.
Walther Meyer Collection
This collection documents the genealogical research of the lawyer Walther Meyer. Among the many families mentioned here are branches of the Meyer, Eger, Oppenheimer, Borchardt, Neufeld, Ballin, Wertheimer, and Wallach families. Material on them includes many drafts of family trees as well as exchanges of genealogical research correspondence. This collection also contains official decrees and announcements pertaining to the Jewish communities of Hannover from the 1800s.
