Abstract

The bulk of the collection consists of one bound scrapbook with documents pertaining to Abraham Jacob, his estate, his son in law David Berliner, David Berliner’s son Abraham Berliner, and his son Moritz Berliner, all in the town of Flatow, ranging 1789-1898. The 456 pages in this scrapbook are in no chronological order. - Also included are three further documents, 1844-1913.

Berliner Family, Hannover Collection

Abstract

The collection contains a large number of original historical documents related to the family Berliner of Hanover. Folder 1 contains original materials including residency permit for Moses Berliner from 1817 and a bundle of business and family documents of the Berliner family dating 1789-1898. There are also clippings from pre-war newspapers and 20th century family certificates and documents, including a short handwritten family history penned in 1964, author unknown.

This mostly unorganized collection holds manuscripts, drawings and correspondence, as well as some vital records, photographs and published materials pertaining to the author Gertrude Berliner and her family in Vienna, Austria, and in Hanover, Germany. Most of her writings deal with family and emigration, personal recollections and reminiscences of childhood and adulthood.

Abstract

This collection contains the personal papers of members of the Leiter and Berliner families of Hamburg and Berlin. Some members of these families immigrated to the United States in the late 1930s while others survived World War II in Amsterdam, as forced laborers in Berlin, or in Theresienstadt. Materials include vital documents, official papers, personal correspondence, poems, clippings, official announcements and orders, banking records, restitution materials, and a few photographs.
