The Friedrich (Fritz) and Emma Ginsberg Family Collection largely documents the lives of Fritz, Emma, Gertrud, Ruth and Hilde Ginsberg in King William's Town, South Africa. Some material on relatives, especially Henriette Rosenstein and Samuel Wayburne but also others, will additionally be found here. Abstract

The collection consists of the correspondence between Sigmund Mannheimer's (1835-1909) wife and daughter. It contains two personal letters from Mary Antin to Louise Herschmann Mannheimer, and four personal letters to Jennie Mannheimer, who went under the stage name of Jane Manner. The correspondents of the latter are Henry Mosler (1841-1920), the artist, Claude F.G. Montefiore (1858-1938), and Henrietta Szold (1860-1945).

Vital documents, letters of protection and municipal citizenship, autograph albums, wills and testaments, marriage contracts, memoirs, obituaries, and clippings concerning members of the Valentin family, the family business, the freight-movers Jacob & Valentin, and related families, including the Abraham, Behrend, Loewen, and Mannheimer families; noteworthy documents include memoirs of the banker Samuel Liepmann Loewen, 1824, and records of the Prussian minter and medalist Jacob Abraham, 1753, as well as photocopies of records of his son, the minter Abraham Abramson.
