Hunter College

This collection contains pamphlets, printed materials and photos concerning the activities of the Kosher food manufacturing company founded by Rabbi Dov Ber Manischewitz in Cincinnati in 1888. Includes product information and recipes for holiday meals, as well as copies of presentations at a 1956 symposium on "Jewish Life as Reflected in Jewish Foods.".

This collection holds the personal documents and written works of Eva Dukes, an Austrian Jew who escaped Nazi persecution and immigrated to the United States. In her later years, Eva wrote extensively about her early life in Austria, her family, and her experiences facing the rise of Naziism in Europe. Along with her writings, this collection includes photographs, official documents, correspondence, restitution papers, and other materials pertaining to the life of Eva Dukes.

This collection documents the professional and personal life of Henry M. Rosenthal from 1925 to 1989. His tenure as religious director of the 92nd Street Young Men's Hebrew Association and membership of the faculty at Hunter College are well documented through correspondence and supporting materials. Rosenthal’s Philosophical career and published writings make up the bulk of the collection, which includes manuscripts, drafts, and bound copies of his work. Unpublished manuscripts are of particular interest, as are the early drafts of his posthumously published "The Consolations of Philosophy: Hobbes's Secret; Spinoza's Way". Personal journals and early letters between Rosenthal and his wife, the former Rachel Chernowitz, complete the collection.

This collection consists of the personal papers of Ruth Worth (1915-1997). Born in Halberstadt, Germany, Ruth Worth was held in Camp de Gurs before immigrating to the United States in 1941. Materials include personal correspondence, personal documents, legal papers and correspondence related to restitution and inheritance claims, and a few photographs.

This collection is mainly composed of correspondence between Ms. Stern and Mrs. Roosevelt, spanning the years from their first acquaintance in 1941, to Mrs. Roosevelt's death in 1962. Letters that hold particular interest concern Ms. Stern's experience at the Summer Student Leadership Institute, and the White House.

The collection encompasses the personal papers of Virginia Snitow, especially during her active years in the Women's Division of the American Jewish Congress and an organization she founded, US/Israel Women to Women. Papers contain correspondence, writings and voluminous notes with both fiction, and non-fiction writings on racial, gender and class equality. Also included are family stories and diaries chronicling Snitow's time spent in her summer home in Grenada.
