Gertrude Knopf Family Collection
Abstract
The bulk of the collections consists of correspondence to Gertrude (Trude) Münzer (later Knopf) in Palestine from her parents, Moses and Lisa (Feige Liebe née Bien) Münzer and her siblings Nelly (married Herze, * 1917); Benno (* 1920); Elfriede (* 1925); and Siegfried (* 1927); all of them (except for Benno) perished in the Holocaust.

Biographical Note
Gertrude Knopf née Münzer was born in Vienna, Austria on Aug. 18, 1923 and grew up in a Jewish religious household in Vienna’s 12th and 20th District. In 1938 she escaped to Palestine, where she was assigned to Kibbutz Gan Schmuel near Hedera and then to Kfar Masaryk. She immigrated to the US in 1959.
